With the stunning red transparency of a sunset, this is a decidedly alternative take on tea. It has its exclusive provenance in an arid region of South Africa, where the broom-like bushes grow.

It is made from the needle-shaped branches and leaves of the plant, and today is even appreciated in China, the homeland of tea.

 

Rooibos is celebrated for its rounded, slightly malted flavour, and for its hazelnut aroma. Free from caffeine and with low tannin levels, it is rich in vitamin C, mineral salts and antioxidants.

Refreshing and thirst-quenching, it is excellent without any additions, but it can be sweetened with sugar and enjoyed with lemon or, as per the African custom, with milk.

The aroma and flavour do not change even after prolonged brewing.
