The aromatic strength of black tea is combined with the particular citrus perfume of bergamot, the fruit of the Chinese plant that has been widely cultivated for centuries in the Italian region of Calabria.
The fresh, assertive flavour of Earl Grey is easy to appreciate with no milk or sugar added, but connoisseurs tend to accentuate its fragrance by adding a slice of lemon to the cup.
